Zamioculcas zamiifolia/ ZZ

A shining example of a hard-to-kill plant is our own ZZ. Its scientific name being quite the tongue twister, it is no wonder that we adopted its initials to be its common name. Though surprisingly, it is the only plant to have its initials as its common name!

ZZ’s most attractive feature is that its evergreen leaves are tolerant of low light. Also, its root being a water-storing succulent rhizome, it won’t show its unhappiness to you if you forget to irrigate it once or twice.

No surprises, then, that this east African beauty has conquered the world!
